Entering the Film Industry after University || The Film Graduate

I can’t believe I have officially finished University, though my physical graduation isn’t until May 2021 (that’s a whole other story). These past few months I have been preparing myself for a career after University within the Film Production industry.

For the longest time, I didn’t know what that would mean for me. I didn’t know if that would be working in a London office as part of a production company, working as a runner/driver or taking the dive into the freelance world.

Coronavirus definitely had its influence on where I’m at today with most employers taking applications down, cancelling listings or postponing recruitment. For now, I’m starting my freelance career while also working at my ‘real’ part-time retail job at the weekends. The reality is this year is going to be extremely challenging, making enough money to survive, navigating my own income, working to industry standards are all but a few of the challenges I have coming up. BUT I AM EXCITED!

I want to take you, my followers, on the journey. Keeping you updated every step of the way. Giving you the inside stories, challenges, glitz and hopefully glamour.

This past few months I have been growing my online presence in the hope to increase my professional following. During that time I have created myself a Professional Website containing a portfolio of my previous and current work, Facebook and an Instagram giving regular updates on my experience. I highly encourage you to follow these to hear first where my career is taking me!

I have also created a Youtube Channel containing some of my earlier films, showreel and hopefully a series of videos documenting my experience as a female emerging filmmaker! I hope to share my experience and encourage other young females by my story to chase their dreams no matter how many times they’re told they are unachievable. If this is something you would like to see make sure to subscribe to the channel and let me know in the comments. Enough encouragement may give me the confidence to be in front of the camera for once!

I hope you join me for the wild ride whilst I try to make this crazy dream into a reality.

What is the craziest thing you have done to enhance your career? Let me know in the comments below!
