On the 29th August as part of Elliott’s (best friend and fellow travel & lifestyle blogger) birthday present, I took him to a show which has been on both of our Theatre Bucket Lists for a very long time! We went along to see Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre, London.

“You change the world when you change your mind.”

This show was everything I hoped it would be and more. If you’re looking for a good evening out and a truly sweet story this is the show for you! The plot follows Charlie Price who, following the death of his father, inherits Price & Son’s the families business. The shoe shop who are in dire straights is almost run into the ground until Charlie discovers Lola who inspires him to produce daring and erotic footwear for men.

The shows overall message is a lovely one all about acceptance for being exactly who you are and is a message I strongly believe can’t be shouted about loud enough.

The evening kicked off with dinner at Planet Hollywood accompanied by cocktails. I enjoyed a Bramble as well as a strawberry daiquiri. We both ate from the Gluten Free menu that Planet Hollywood offers choosing a pulled pork sandwich with a side of chips.  Following dinner, we had a walk around Shaftsbury Avenue, Leicester Square and Covent Garden before entering the Adelphi Theatre. We walked straight into the bar area greeted to the classic Kinky Boots cardboard sign and of course we both had to get a picture!

Once we were in it was time to hit up the bar! We both indulged with a pornstar martini each and a prosecco shot. Although this was pricey (£10.95) the cocktail was really good and would recommend splashing the cash a bit to get one if you go. They also offer frozen cocktails though i’m not sure on the price as I didn’t try one myself.

The casting of the show was excellent with many cast members coming from well-recognised institutions such as LAMDA. I also would like to specifically congratulate the two children cast in this production who did a wonderful job performing in the first scene both showing wonderful talent I’m sure they’ll go far in their career if they decide to carry it on.

This fantastic show is currently performing for their final dazzling summer so if you are planning to go you better get in quick as from January this show will, unfortunately, have gone! Tickets are still available here: http://www.kinkybootsthemusical.co.uk

I currently haven’t got any shows planned until January so what show should I see next? Let me know in the comments!
